New: Paintings

January 13, 2017

The last three months I completed 4 paintings. Here are three of them.

Colour, theme, mark making are aspects of a sort of alchemy I’ve been trying to achieve for some time now. I’m on a new and perhaps a renewed route, one that makes sense to me at the moment.

I have this intense feeling that I’m on a path I feel I cannot return from. And maybe I’ve been avoiding it for many years, denying a space in an art compartment, but here, at last, I feel very much at ease.

Paintings dimensions are approx. 32’x 26′

Monsters and Therianthropes

October 17, 2016

Work in progress… monsters and therianthropic dolls, inspired by dolls’ anthropological symbolism and the wild-man festivities celebrated throughout Europe.

One of a series of dolls. I’m fascinated by the use of dolls and their significance. See www.alexandrasantos.com for Freud performance images.

Theriantropes/theriantropy

ArtHabens 1st pages

Theriantropy is the mythological ability of human beings to metamorphose into animals by means of shapeshifting. This concept is as old as mankind, and it is deeply connected to Shamanic practices. Maybe it is a proof of our deep connection to the animal world, rather than our separation from it.
